Highlights
- Overseeing the development, planning, and execution of the Decade of Ocean Empathy program. The Decade of Ocean Empathy is an initiative that brings human elements into marine science to generate ocean connection and stewardship. Inspired by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) and led by 501c3 non-profit The Hydrous (www.thehydro.us), the Decade of Ocean Empathy leverages human-centered design, learning science, and emerging technologies.
- Successfully hosted the World’s Largest Virtual Dive during a socially distanced Oceans Week in collaboration with partners such as Rolex, National Geographic, The Explorer’s Club, EarthX, Cannes XR, and more. Creating a way for people to connect with the ocean and each other.
- Spearheaded the launch of Coral Collections: a Smithsonian collaboration with The Hydrous, a new project aimed at supporting discovery through digitization. Anyone with an internet connection can access Coral Collections to discover and explore beautiful and fascinating coral ecosystems through 3D models of artifacts and specimens from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.
